the John Hancock Center was completed in 1969
by structural engineer Fazlur Rahman Khan
of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill.

The same group constructed the Sears Tower in 1973.

  1. When I was 4 years old my parents asked me what I wanted for my upcoming birthday? I told them I wanted to go to the top of the John Hancock Building. I was in awe of this structure, capitivated by it! But I must have done something truly evil, as only a 5 year old could! My gift was taken away from me and I never made it to the top until I worked there at age 19. I wonder what my sin was? An act so heinous that it denied my young self the opportunity that I had longed for? Oh, the evil children do! Damn that evil!
